The South West Championships 2016 championships took place over two consecutive weekends and Splitz Gymnastics Club came home with 7 medals.
The championships got off to an amazing start with Grade 2 pair Isabelle Newbury and Amy Dowling performing a brilliant clean routine; good enough to place first and scope the GOLD medal with a score of 26.57.
Grade 3 pair Isabelle Murphy and Freya Grafton performed a beautiful routine and placed 3rd with a BRONZE medal and an outstandingly high score of 27.24. Both girls were also in a Grade 3 triowith Storm Evans-Ingram. The three girls pulled off another fantastic and graceful routine, which won them a deserved 2nd place and the SILVER medal (score of 26.46).
The trio were joined on the podium by their Grade 3 teammates, Kayleigh Benham, Ellie-Mae Shearer and Mia Croker; only together as a partnership for 3 weeks prior to the competition, they still managed to perform an interesting and elegant routine that earned them the 3rd place with a BRONZE medal. and a score of 26.36 out of 23 other competitors!
Mia Picket and Eleanor Green performed a brilliantly clean routine in Grade 3 pairs category, finishing in 4th place with an amazing high score of 27.12 out of 17 other competitors.
And last but not least, Splitz' youngest partnership - Madison Hughes, only 7 years old and her base Archie Pickles. They competed together for their second competition at the South West Championships and got an outright 1st place with a GOLD medal with an outstanding routine and a great score of 26.49.
The following weekend we travelled to Yate for the South West Championships higher levels, with our two Grade 4 trios.
Lottie Barns, Emma Byrne and Roxxi Crandon competed a fabulous new routine, which was very eye catching and filled with clean balances. Followed by team mates Kayleigh Down, Chili Harling and Kyra Bonner, also in grade 4 trio, placing a fantastic 4th place after a breath-taking routine filled with excitement, fantastic artistry and elegance.
